Getting Back Your Personal Look With Bento

Mesh Heads are the rage at the moment. The only drawback, most can't be modified except for size and eye position. Bento, the upcoming new skeleton for your avatar, makes mesh modifiable and allows you to personalize your mesh head almost to the extent as the classic avatar head.

I say “almost” because certain sliders on this Bento enabled new Mesh Head from AK weren't doing anything, others, like for instance the slider for mouth corner position, didn't let me put as much of a smile on my face as is possible with the classic body so that I still look a bit sceptical, lol. But then, who wants to look like the Joker?

Still, as you can see, the possibilities are vast. I use the same Marco Mesh Head from AK on both pictures, the same skin appliers and the same hair, although I use a bit more beard stubble on the right picture. On the left is the way you can use the Marco Mesh Head at the moment, modifiable only by choice of skin applier and/or skin tone. On the right is my personal interpretation (i.e. shape) of Marco, an attempt to make him look more mature.

Before I forget, with Bento you can also change your eyebrow shape using the classic "baldies". I only found one I like after I took the pictures, so here I use no "baldie".

But, best you try it out yourself. Get yourself the demo version of this AK Mesh Head, download the Second Life Bento Viewer (version 5.0.0.320815) and start playing the sliders. Have fun!

New Mesh Heads From Labyrinth

Labyrinth has released a new series of mesh heads (400 L$ a piece) with fitting head & body skins (1,750 L$ per skin tone) and add-on beard styles (250 L$ each). To apply the beard styles you first need to spend the one-time amount of 99 L$ for the Omega Applier System. 

This way, one body look as shown on the picture adds up to a 2,499 L$ investment. Each additional beard style will cost you a further 250 L$ and SLink Appliers have to be bought separately if you don't own them already. On the plus side you get 4 hair base and eyebrow colours with this mesh head, a choice of guyliner or not and a basic choice between a clean shaven or a (heavily) stubbled chin so that you don't necessarily have to buy a beard and the Omega Applier System.

'N'Zone Round Two: Mad Cat Creations (MCC)

This weekend 'N'Zone, the special sales event for everything related to the (NIRAMYTH) AESTHETIC Mesh Avatar (AMA), opened its doors for the second round. I will show you some of the clothes and accessories you can get there in this and future posts starting with one of this round's sponsors: Mad Cat Creations (MCC). 

I must admit, I'm quite new to the AMA myself and as you know from my recent posts, I have concentrated on the mesh clothes and tattoos you can get for this mesh body. So, I totally overlooked the obvious: the clothing layers which come with this body. 

If you are asking what the hell I'm talking about, well, I'm with you, I didn't read the manual from A - Z either, so someone had to fill me in: The clothing layers which come with the AMA resemble the good old system clothes layers we used with our regular SL avatars before we had mesh. In this case, you actually have to wear them, one clothing layer for the top, one for the pants, and you get quite a selection (baggy, skinny, slim, straight etc.) to choose from in a special folder once you unpack your AMA package. 

Once you wear any of the 4 options for top or pants you will find them "pre-applied" with 4 jeans and 4 tank tops (in 3 different colours). Best make a copy of them so as not to overwrite them with any new appliers.

This gets me to the new products MCC offers at the .::'N'Zone::.: HUDs which let you apply a pants or a shirt or a whole outfit like you would apply a tattoo, if you wear the respective clothing layer(s). It doesn't get any easier than this. Plus: You can mix and match. Example: Apply a whole outfit first and then a new shirt and you will wear that shirt with the pants from the outfit you wore before.
